Privacy policy
Effective October 5, 2026
Aide is a personal assistant for Android that works on your phone. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: what you write and say stays on your phone. We don't collect it, we can't see it, and the app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into Aide is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone:
- your messages, and the reminders, events, to-dos, notes and bookmarks made from them;
- photos, files and voice notes you attach;
- the app's settings;
- the search index the app builds so you can find what you saved.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. The app turns off Android's cloud backup for its data, so it isn't copied to a backup service either.
The AI runs on your phone
Aide uses small AI models that run on the phone itself: one that understands your requests, and one that helps search what you saved. Your requests and your data are never sent to a server to be processed.
Voice
When you tap the microphone, Aide records your voice only while it's listening, and passes the sound to your phone's own on-device speech recognition, which works without the internet. Aide asks only for the on-device recognizer, never for one that may send audio to a server. If your phone has none, voice isn't available rather than using the cloud. The recording isn't kept. Spoken replies use your phone's own text-to-speech, with a voice installed on the phone.
On many Android phones the on-device speech recognition is provided by Google's system services. Their handling of on-device recognition is described in Google's own policies.
What the app downloads
Aide uses the internet only to download things it needs, never to send your data:
- AI models: after you install the app, it downloads its models over Wi-Fi from our model server (
limedesk.app, hosted on Cloudflare) and from Hugging Face. When you open the app's model screen, it also checks our model server for a newer version. - Speech recognition language: if your phone doesn't have on-device English (US) speech recognition, the phone offers to download it from its own provider.
As with any download, these servers see your device's IP address and the file requested, and may keep it in short-lived technical logs. No account, identifier or personal information is sent with these requests.
When you contact us
If you report a reply or write to us, your email app sends us what you choose to send: for a report, the reply, the request it answered and the app and Android versions, which the app fills in for you to review first. We use it only to look into the report or to answer you.
Permissions
- Microphone: to hear voice requests while you're using voice.
- Notifications, alarms and reminders, running in the background: so reminders arrive on time, even when the app is closed and after the phone restarts.
- Calendar: only if you choose to add an event to your phone's calendar, so the app can create and update that copy.
- Internet and network state: to download the AI models over Wi-Fi.
You can change any of these in Android's settings at any time.
Deleting your data
You can delete any message or item in the app. Uninstalling Aide deletes all of its data from your phone, including the downloaded models. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
Aide isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
